Modernism with more.
Less is more.
God is in the details.
I don't want to be interesting. I want to be good.
"My personal design philosophy follows that
of the 20th century Modernists (the Bauhaus school,
Mies Van der Rohe). Working for an architecture firm
during the early 'formative' years of my
career, I still draw comparisons between architecture
and graphic design in my philosophy. The above quotes
of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe sum up the basis of my
design philosophy.Of course, we are living in post-modern (some would
say post-post-modern) times, in which the basics of
modernist design philosophies (form should follow
function, design should work with and highlight the
inherent properties of materials) often need further
consideration and further processing in order to generate
design solutions that are effective within the cacaphony
of messages today. I have had the good fortune to have had solid academic
training in the tenets of 'good design'
from a Modernist bent, and later to have real-world
experience dealing with real situations and real people
who have no idea what Modernism is, all the while
being a lover of 'looking'—trying to make
myself aware of what's going on in the world around
me. All this I bring to the table at which I discuss
with my clients their needs and desires, which are
the ultimate driving forces behind each project. I
make your ideas real, and if you don't have any ideas,
I can help you there, too."
